Dear Katiopae

Latiopa is the pre-colonial name for Africa in the Kingdom of Congo. Embodying Africa's rich history and heritage, Dear Katiopae aims to reshape the narrative of the continent by celebrating the true stories of Africa through modern, delicate, and chic jewelry. Each piece reflects the diverse cultures of Africa—Ashanti, Akan, Bamileke, Ewe, Masai, and more—by reinterpreting ancestral forms and symbols and highlighting traditional craftsmanship.

Wearing a Dear Katiopae jewel supports the preservation of century-old heritages and traditions. Designed and assembled in London, each piece is handcrafted by skilled artisans from Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Kenya using the artisanal lost wax technique. This method celebrates imperfections, making every piece truly unique.

The 3 Es of DK:

  • Ethnic: Honoring ancestral traditions and techniques.
  • Ethics: Committed to fair trade with blacksmith artisans and other bead manufacturers.
  • Environmentally friendly: Utilizing recycled glass beads and recycled brass in most jewelry.
